I am John Nurden. I used to edit four weekly newspapers in Kent, England – the Canterbury Times, Faversham Times, Herne Bay Times and Whitstable Times.

Each week I wrote a 500-word column called Nurden’s Notebook about what I had been doing. Mostly it involved trying to dodge the wrath of Mrs Nurden, dealing with our two Creatures of the Night, running a mobile disco (surely the oldest swinger in town?) and learning to be rock god with The Wrinklies and Rockin’ Decades rock bands.

This is a selection of my favourite columns, plus some new ones as I venture into the post-paper world of blogging and tackle the dark arts of running my own PR business Almost Legendary Publicity Services…
